The night before the launch

A personal reflection with the founder

Dear Diary.

Okay just kidding but that’s kind of how this all feels.

Fall 2023 I had a dream that started with a question; what if all this work I was doing as a volunteer could be replicated to do some serious good? I’ve been a photographer and designer for over a decade and was itching to design a dog brand, and as I type that I realize how ridiculous that must sound to an outsider. But what if that dog brand was actually me? I had the conversation with my husband over dinner, expecting a little bit of “oh that’s cute” but just as quickly as I could get the words out we were building the business model. Yes it was genuinely a “scratch it on the cocktail napkin” kind of moment.

The next several months have been spent battling imposter syndrome, doubt, unwarranted confidence, anxiety, legal fees, google searches on custom Squarespace plug-ins…I keep describing the feeling to friends that I have this idea that is constantly vibrating in my bones, it’s always in the back of my mind, and I’ve just got to get it out there to the world.

How much more could we amplify the efforts of local rescues if we provided them with regular quality photos of their adoptable animals? I had already been photographing weekly for Wags and Walks Nashville for their incredible brand, but what about the rescues that don’t have the same marketing efforts?

So here we are, the night before launching. All the unknowns about to becoming known, showing my hand of every secret that’s been consuming me since Fall 2023. I hope for Send Dog Pics to be known for doing good, for photographers like me who are thinking “there’s got to be something more than just photographing the cha-cha slide again.” Good for the rescues who may not even have a camera or smart phone to photograph their rescue animals and get the word out. Good for the misunderstood rescue animals who just want to spend a night anywhere other than a cold kennel.

Thank you for being here, now where will the journey take us?
